Join our team as a Field Service Technician, where you’ll play a critical role in delivering reliable water and wastewater services to our community. This position is hands-on and customer-focused, ensuring service activation, shut-offs, meter installations, and resolving service concerns. You’ll report to the Operations Manager and work closely with customers and internal teams to maintain operational excellence and safety standards.

 

What you’d be responsible for

  • Investigate customer concerns such as high meter readings, leaks, water quality issue and pressure fluctuations.
  • Diagnose problems and take appropriate corrective actions.
  • Assist customers in locating water leaks and provide guidance on solutions.
  • Inspect water meter connections for leaks and perform repairs as needed.
  • Install, maintain, and repair water distribution system.
  • Install, inspect, and replace water meters; may also perform meter readings.
  • Maintain compliance with operational standards, policies, and safety protocols.
  • Protect operational integrity, including quality, environmental, health, and security standards.
  • Foster open communication by sharing knowledge, listening actively, and providing constructive feedback.
  • Accurately record electronic transactions in the customer information system.
  • Perform other responsibilities as requested.

 

What’s required to be successful

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Strong verbal communication and customer service skills, including listening, tact, and diplomacy.
  • Ability to read and interpret maps, blueprints, service orders, and written instructions.
  • Skilled in using hand tools, water pressure gauges, and other measuring devices.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Computer literacy for completing service orders and reports in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Knowledge of water distribution system.

 

Minimum requirements for each level

All positions require a High School Diploma or equivalent and a valid New Mexico Driver’s License. 

 

Field Service Representative I: Grade 1 certifications in Water Distribution or Wastewater Collection.

 

Field Service Representative II: Minimum Two years of on the job or equivalent experience. Grade 2 certifications in Water Distribution or Wastewater Collection.

 

Field Service Representative III: Minimum Three years of on the job or equivalent experience. Grade 2 certifications in Water Distribution or Wastewater Collection.
